A Plus Registry Services Ltd -Driver Testing - All Classes

A Plus Registry Services offers qualified and certified driver Testing Services. Driver examiners are available six days a week. You must call (403) 288-3333 to book a road test. Appointments are usually available for the same day or next day.

Learner's Permit

No appointment is necessary to write your quot;learner'squot;, but you must Be at least 14 years old . If you are under 18 years of age you must have your parent or guardian sign a Parental Consent Form. This form is available at our office. Also, you may pick up an Operator#146;s Manual at our office. There is no charge for this book and you'll find it extremely helpful.

Before you write your knowledge test you must provide satisfactory identification. This could be your Birth Certificate or Alberta Health Card, because these items show your date of birth, plus one other piece of ID, preferably with a photo. For students a school photo ID is acceptable. For people not born in Canada a passport is good identification as it contains both a photo and signature.

Once your identity is confirmed and entered into the Motor Vehicles system you will purchase a permit to write the knowledge test. The current cost is $8.56 including G.S.T. If you happen to fail the test you may take it again the next day, however you will have to pay the $8.56 each time you try the test.

After you pass your knowledge test you will be given a vision test which you must also pass. At this point you can be issued your Class 7 Operator's License. It is valid for 5 years and the cost is $45.35 including G.S.T.

Road Tests

If you are 16 years of age or older and have a valid Class 7 license you can take a road test. Phone our office to book an appointment. We can arrange to have you tested immediately. You must supply your own vehicle. A good source of vehicles are parents, family or friends.

We request that you come for your road test about 15 minutes early to allow you time to pay for your Road Test Permit. For a Class 5 license this will cost $25.00 including G.S.T.

The examiner will do a brief inspection of the vehicle to make sure the brake lights, signal lights and door latches are working properly. You cannot take passengers or pets on the road test with you.

The road test usually takes about 1/2 hour. If you do not pass the test you can take it again as soon as the next day. You will need to purchase another Road Test Permit at that time.

When you pass your road test your Class 7 Operator's License will be reclassified as a Class 5. This will take only a few minutes after your return from the road test. The cost for reclassification is $10.35 including G.S.T.

The requirements for a Class 4 Operator's License is slightly different. There is a special Class 4 knowledge test and vision test. Before you take your road test you must pick up a medical examination form to be completed by your doctor. The form is available at our office.

Road Tests and Knowledge Tests are also available for all other classes of licenses. We have driver examiners for all classes of road tests including Class 1 amp; 3 ( Freight Carrier Services), Class 2 amp; 4 (Passenger Services) and Class 6 (Motorcycle). Our examiners are also qualified and available for Driver Evaluation Services.

Reinstatements

Drivers who have been previously licensed and are coming off suspension or drivers who are applying for a restricted or interlock license do not need to pass another knowledge test.

If you have any insurance concerns at this time you can discuss them with an insurance agent at our location. The Insurance Agents phone number is (403) 288-0342.
