Learning Activities

Our final choice for this week's activity is:

In the small groups you formed for assignment #3, have one member assume the role of an educational or organizational leader promoting change toward a learner-centered model in your institution. Role-play, discuss, debate and then request one group member to share a short summary of the group's activity with the class. (More info in Week 5)

Please don't do the following activities—They are just part of our requirement for assignment #3.

Activity #1

Look at the Chapter One summary and focus on the ways in which teachers/profs could improve on 'designing their instruction'.

There are three examples of how profs and teachers can improve in these areas. They include: getting students prepared for class, student boredom and poor retention of knowledge. Under each of these examples there are suggestions to how a professor can avoid these examples ie getting prepared for class, student boredom, and poor retention of knowledge.

Please add new examples and ways in which profs can improve in their teaching or add to the existing examples and suggestions.

Activity #2

Search the Internet to find other sites/articles of interest.  Select a site of interest and tell us why you chose it and how it relates to our reading this week.

Here are some topic suggestions (Teaching/Learning Paradigm, Taxonomy of Significant Learning, Instructional Design Model).
